Okay so why the need for such a computer? Well if you are looking into starting a YouTube channel or any kind of video media you are going to require some horsepower. I am in the process of starting a You Tube channel and gaming and obviously video editing is key to this project.
So whats the kit?
- Intel i7-4790k (chosen for good overclocking properties whilst also being a low temp processor with a ton of power)
- ASUS Maximus Hero 7 Motherboard (great overclocking uefi bios, amasing onboard 7.1 digital surround sound, and a super fast and upgradable motherboard)
- Be Quiet 650W PSU (Once again, super quiet but delivering a bronze standard for energy efficiency). (Gold put me over budget)
- Be Quiet Silent Base 800 Full ATX tower. (Known for its silent properties, the whole case is sound proofed)
- Be Quiet Pure Rock CPU Air Cooler (Very quiet and keeps the CPU under load at a very cool state)
- Corsair Vengeance 1866Mhz RAM
- Sapphire R9 290 TRI-X Graphics Card (Super fast card for the money with DDR5 and 512bit pipeline)
- 1TB Western Digital Caviar Blue Hard Drive
- Samsung Evo 850 Evo Solid State Hard Drive (For the OS and essential progz)
- Cooler Master QuikFire TK Mechanical Keyboard with Blue Cherry Keys
- Shogun Ballista MK1 Super high DPI mouse (8000DPI)
- Blue Snowball Microphone (for superior audio recording quality)
- AOC 24 inch 1ms response time flat screen monitor. (Best monitor for the price to keep it in budget)
The build was pretty straight forward and a YouTube video of the build will be uploaded soon.
I have fully tested the built computer with great results and very stable performance. If your looking to build on a budget, this is probably some of the best kit your money could get you.
On the same budget would I change anything? Nope!
For £400 more what would I change? Monitor and add more hard drive space.
For £800 as a total build price what would you have to change? Parts that could have been sacrificed to make the system louder (not ideal for audio recording of any sort). The case and PSU and the cooler cost more than I would have liked.... but you got to pay for quality. I would try to still keep the Intel 4790k chip as it is a workhorse power-plant beast. I would probably save a bit of money by going with a cheaper motherboard and cheaper RAM. The keyboard and the mouse also could be swapped out for basic models but this would effect the very content I am trying to upload to YouTube. The Solid State Drive to a normal HD would save me some money too but at a cost of speed. The graphics card would also have to be changed. Dropping to something in the £150 range would only just do the job but not on everything and I would have been limited to what media / games I could record with good results. Change the above and you have your PC for £800. £400 on top of your £800 gets you a lot more.
Hope this has been of interest to some. Here is the video of the build!
